Thai Boy Red Lime Stone (Calcium Hydroxide) 100g

Thai Boy Red Lime Stone (ปูนแดงตราไทยบอย, pun daeng tra Thai Boy) is a traditional Thai culinary ingredient produced under the Thai Boy brand. Red lime stone (pun daeng / ปูนแดง) is food-grade calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) in a red-coloured form — the red colour is derived from the addition of natural plant extracts. Calcium hydroxide has been used in Thai cooking and traditional practices for centuries. In culinary applications, it is used by dissolving a small amount in water to produce lime water (nam pun daeng / น้ำปูนแดง), using only the clear settled liquid above the sediment. Lime water is used in Thai dessert making to firm textures and maintain crispness in batters and vegetables, and to produce the characteristic light, airy crunch in Thai fried snacks and fritters. Red lime stone is also used in traditional Thai betel nut (mak / หมาก) preparations, where it is applied to betel leaves as part of the traditional chewing preparation. The 100g pack is a standard household format — a small quantity is sufficient for many uses as only a small amount is dissolved per preparation.

  • Product type: Food-grade calcium hydroxide (red lime stone / pun daeng) — Thai Boy brand, traditional Thai culinary ingredient, 100g
  • Key culinary use: Thai dessert and sweet making — lime water from red lime stone firms textures, maintains crispness, and adds a light, airy quality to batters and fried snacks
  • Primary use case: Thai khanom (sweets and desserts) preparation — dissolve in water, allow to settle, and use only the clear liquid for soaking or batter applications
  • Secondary use case: Traditional Thai betel nut (mak) preparation — applied to betel leaves as part of the traditional chewing custom
  • Pack size: 100g — standard household format; use sparingly as a small amount is sufficient per preparation

Usage note: Dissolve a small amount in water to create lime water (nam pun daeng). Allow to settle fully and use only the clear coloured liquid above the sediment — do not use the sediment directly. Use only as directed in recipes. Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
